Description

The Kanai Board of Education invites Proponent’s to submit proposals for the prequalification of Prime Consultant Services in support of the proposed new Aahsaopi Elementary School in Lavern Alberta.

The Aahsaopi Elementary School provides programs for kindergarten through to grade 5. The facility does not meet the required capacity of the surrounding community, projected growth over the next 5-10 years of operations, or the functional requirements of the staff and students. It was determined that construction of a new facility is the most viable option for expansion and will also facilitate the school remaining operational throughout construction. The new Aahsaopi Elementary School is to be situated next to the existing elementary school and is currently proposed to be built just North of the current building. Design of the facility is to encompass and reflect the Blackfoot cultural values, engagement with the community and a connection with nature. A functional program is currently in development for the project.
